With the high demand for blue and white collar workers, the Filipino community in the United States is getting bigger by the numbers. If you're a newbie in California, here are 5 places where you can find fellow Kabayans.


1. Los Angeles


Los Angeles is like the Metro Manila for Filipinos in the US. Half of the Greater Los Angeles population is Filipino.



Aside from that, the Historic Filipinotown is located at the Westlake in Central Los Angeles. It is believed that Los Angeles is where Filipinos first settled in the United States.

2. Orange County


The county is known for tourism with attractions like Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and several popular beaches along its more than 40 miles (64 km) of coastline.


A growing population of Filipinos is noted in Orange County, the most populous county in California. Filipino nationals in Orange County can be found in Buena Park.

Situated at the south end of San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Clara County has the largest population of Filipinos. It is considered as one of the richest regions in the United States. the highly urbanized Santa Clara Valley within Santa Clara County is also known as Silicon Valley.



Recently, an alumni group from the University of California has launched a program to increase the number of Filipino-American workers in tech companies in Silicon Valley. Social networking giant, Twitter, is known to have Filipinos in their workforce. Filipino initiated-startups are also taking centerstage. These are just some of the factors why Filipino population is increasing in Santa Clara County.

4. Daly City


Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Daly City has great concentration of Filipino-Americans. Daly City is the largest city in San Mateo County with an estimated 2014 population of 106,094. 

About 35% of the population in Daly City is composed of Filipinos.

And last, but definitely not the least...

5. San Diego


San Diego can be considered as home to the Asian-American society. It has been the top destination for Filipinos for years.


The California State Route 54 was built to honor the Filipino-American community.
