Bear Valley is a location in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Alpine County, the least populated county of California. It is home to the Bear Valley Ski Resort, which offers winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. Tucked away in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Bear Valley Resort is a serene and beautiful destination for a winter getaway. The resort offers a wide variety of activities for both kids and adults, including skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and sledding. There are also several restaurants and bars on site, as well as a spa for those looking to relax and rejuvenate. The area is also popular for hiking and camping in the summer months.

Prior to the 2010–11 ski season, 400 more acres of non–lift serviced terrain were made available to the public, bringing the resort's total skiable area to 1680, ranking it ninth among California resorts. The resort is renowned for its dedication to snowmaking and competence in the field of snow science. Due to effective snow management, the resort was one of only six in California to remain open until the middle of spring through the worst droughts in recorded history.

Alpine touring, telemark, backcountry skis, or snowshoes are just a few of the many ways to explore the Bear Valley backcountry. Bear Valley-based Mountain Adventure Seminars provides telemark skiing instruction, avalanche safety training, mountaineering guiding services, and extended overnight backcountry experiences.

Winter and summer activities can differ quite a bit. In the winter, people might enjoy activities such as skiing, sledding, or building snowmen. In the summer, people might enjoy activities such as swimming, fishing, or playing in the park. The best thing in Bear Valley is that you can do both. When the snow melts and marks the start of summer kayaking, hiking, mountain biking are some of the recreational activities you can do.
